Balancing Cleansing Emulsion is the latest addition to the brand and has been developed with sensitised and post-treatment skin in mind. A gentle cleansing solution for all skin types
One in 10 adults in the UK are affected by atopic eczema. Patients with eczema typically have a weakened skin barrier which can cause an overly reactive inflammatory response to environmental triggers. Their skin is more susceptible to irritation by common skincare ingredients which can trigger and exacerbate eczema flares. The ideal cleanser for sensitised and compromised skin should leave the complexion feeling thoroughly clean yet balanced without exacerbating irritation, redness, and dryness.
Balancing Cleansing Emulsion formula is free from sulphates, dyes and fragrance which makes the product well-tolerated by all skin types but especially suitable for eczema sufferers. The creamy gel formula melts on contact with skin to remove oil, impurities and makeup. When activated with water, the gel transforms into a milky fluid, which rinses clear with no residue.
Balancing Cleansing Emulsion can also be utilised as a pre-cleanse on nonsensitised skin, followed by a ZO Skin Health water-soluble cleanser, such as Gentle Cleanser, Exfoliating Cleanser or Hydrating Cleanser.

Clinical efficacy
In an independent clinical study, subjects reported that Balancing Cleansing Emulsion provided a thorough yet comfortable cleansing experience.
• 92% of subjects said their skin is thoroughly cleansed of makeup, sunscreen and build-up, while 92% reported that the cleanser soothed stressed skin.
• 100% of participants agreed the cleanser leaves the skin feeling comfortable and does not cause redness or irritation.
Furthermore, 100% reported that the cleanser leaves their skin feeling softer and more hydrated.
In addition to these results, in a third-party independent clinical study, Balancing Cleansing Emulsion was proven to support a strengthened epidermal barrier to combat water loss for up to eight hours and leave skin nourished and hydrated.

Superior cleansing technologies
Balancing Cleansing Emulsion comes in a non-foaming formula, enhanced with protective lipids and calming extracts to leave the skin soothed and supple.
Light emollients condition and support skin’s protective barrier to deliver a comfortable cleanse, without irritation.The addition of the ultra-mild cleansing agents—sugar-derived emulsifying surfactants, lift impurities and oil without disrupting the natural moisture balance of sensitive skin.
The cleanser is further supplemented with bisabolol and oat kernel extract which is a powerfully soothing agent that calms redness and itchiness.

Post-procedure skin
The new Balancing Cleansing Emulsion can also be used post-treatment to support recovery, enhance results and calm the skin following popular non-ablative inclinic treatments, such as microneedling, moderate peels and lasers.
As part of a microneedling safety study led by dermatologists where three microneedling treatments were performed over a series of 57 days, Balancing Cleansing Emulsion was used the day after each treatment, and no irritation or sensitivity was experienced by subjects compared to microneedling alone.
