Until recently the main method of addressing slack and drooping skin has been to plump it out, but how much better would it be if clinicians could bring about collagenasis so that patients regain their own youthful appearance? Silhouette Soft sutures
Silhouette Soft sutures provide a unique two-stage process—an immediate reposition and volume restoration and gradual collagen regeneration. The sutures feature bi-directional cones which secure them in place in the subcutaneous tissues and allows them to be pulled in two directions to reposition the tissue to bring about an immediate mechanical lift and restore volume. The sutures and cones are made from polylactic acid, and post treatment, before they are resorbed, they bring about the process of collagenesis. This creates a second biological effect, where the skin becomes firmer and tighter as a result of the augmentation from newly laid down type 1 collagen to fill out the face naturally.

The holy grail of facial rejuvenation
“The holy grail of facial rejuvenation would be the ability of a skin injectable to stimulate controlled, lasting collagen production.” says Consultant Dermatologist, Dr Nick Lowe. Gratifyingly the ‘holy grail’ has been achieved with the development of Ellansé This is the first dermal filler that provides both instant and gradual results; increased volume occurs immediately post-injection, however volumisation continues to develop due to the production of type 1 collagen. Impressively, the results can be tailored to last between one and four years.
Ellansé is made from bio-absorbable Polycaprolactone which acts as the collagen stimulator.
